9 stretching tips and facts!;;
GUAGES IS AN INCORRECT TERM. They’re called Plugs, Tapers, and Tunnels. A Gauge is a form of measurement.
STRETCHERS is also an incorrect term.
Stretching your lobes should NEVER hurt. There might be a little pressure and they might get a little tender, but if it hurts to stretch, stop immediately because you’re doing it wrong and hurting your lobes.
Acrylic is BAD. It’s incredibly porous and using acrylic plugs could lead to an infection. Avoid it at all costs.
Tapers are also bad. Never use tapers after stretching your lobes to a 6g. Tapers cause damage to your lobes.
After 6g, start moving up to your next size by using plugs and PTFE tape (it’s basically plumbers tape) Get a plug that is the size that you’re at, and just wrap a layer of Plumbers tape around the plug every day or so until you’re up to your next size.
Blowouts are NOT normal. They don’t happen for no reason. If you get a blow out, you messed up somewhere along the line.
If your lobes start getting thin, go back down a couple sizes. Thick lobes are healthy lobes. If you continue to stretch beyond that point, your lobes could tear.
DO NOT SKIP SIZES. I cannot stress this enough. It is so bad for you lobes and could lead to blow outs, tears, and catbutt. Wait at least a month or two between each stretch. Once you get into the larger sizes (around an inch) wait even longer.
If you have any questions that aren’t listed here, you can feel free to ask me. I’m not really an expert, but I’ve gained a lot of knowledge since I started stretching two years ago.
